Renovations are in progress on the Alpha House residence for children. Alpha House is the original house built for children in 1973. The carpets are original in the house and need replaced after 35 years of young feet running over them! Other needed renovation projects in the home are also being taken care of at this time. St. John's Church of Lombard, Illinois, will be coming the last weekend of June to makeover the rooms in the house. After they are finished, we will replace flooring in the bedrooms, halls, and bathrooms. Then our plans are to move our family of children back into this house - sometime in July, and afterward we'll get started on a year-long campaign to increase Alpha's income enough to open our second residence to another family for children in need. Members of St. John's Church asked us to register at Wal-Mart and Home Depot for everything that would be needed for the children to move into the Alpha House residence after the remodeling is complete to give them a fresh start in the newly renovated home. We have done so at their request, and you may join them in shopping from these wish lists for the Alpha House if you would like to. ********************* Our wish list at Wal-Mart may be found under this name: First Name: ALPHA CHRISTIAN The Wal-Mart wish list includes bathroom & kitchen linens, bedroom furniture & accessories, kitchenware, dishes, trash cans, household accessories, cleaning tools, bathroom accessories, outdoor tools, fire alarms, door knobs, and small appliances (microwave oven, vacuum, etc). This registry includes Light Fixtures, Bathroom Sink Tops, Vanity Cabinets, Medicine Cabinets, Faucets, Vanity Lights, Toilet Seats, Ceiling Fans, Floor Registers, Return Air Grills, Etc. Or you can call our office for a Home Depot list to be sent to you. ****************** We have completed 9 of these concerts so far, and will schedule 3 more to be held in June. Our current offerings have come to $6,633.39 toward our total goal of $9,653 for carpet, ceramic tile, and linoleum for the bedrooms, bathrooms, hallways of Alpha House, and learning center areas and rooms of the Multi-purpose Building. We are in great need of people who are willing to volunteer to travel on behalf of Alpha Christian Children's Home to represent our mission to interested churches, organizations, groups, and people as we prayerfully begin the challenging process of raising awareness of our mission, who we serve, and the financial support needs that will be involved in the process of growing the mission to reach more children in need. Our goal is to grow to three families of 8 children each and a relief famliy over the next 10 years, and we need to raise our income base to be able to build and monthly support these new families. Please call our director, Michelle Kincaid, at (785) 597-5235 if you would be interested in volunteering to help Alpha's mission for children by traveling and speaking on the children's behalf. You can make a huge difference for children being reached for Christ with loving, Christian families at the Alpha Christian Children's Home by volunteering to help in this way! The Good Twins gospel duo group of Branson, Missouri, are currently partnering with Alpha Christian Children's Home to raise funding for the flooring needs in the Alpha House residence and in the Learning Center areas for the kids. The Good Twins have generously donated 12 benefit concerts for the children at Alpha. Offerings are collected during the concerts that 100% benefit flooring needs at Alpha.
